Trial Lessons

Trial lessons give the recipient the opportunity to experience the thrills, sensations and skills with piloting a light helicopter. The lesson is designed to be fun, to give the pilot hands-on experience and an overview of what is required to obtain their Private Pilot Licence.

A trial lesson is the perfect present for those wanting to give a memorable and exciting gift experience to friends or family, or for anyone wishing to discover the fun and manoeuvrability of the helicopter themselves. The lesson will be taken in one of our Robinson R22 or R44 helicopters, or our newest addition, the Cabri G2. Check Our Fleet to see our training helicopters.

At Helicopter Services, we recommend the 30 minute trial lesson. This gives the recipient time to get away from the airfield and become comfortable with the helicopter controls, before coming back to the airfield to attempt the hover.

Gift Flights and Trial Lesson Experiences

On the day, the recipient will be given a briefing on the effects of controls and how the helicopter flies. A safety briefing will also be given before the flight. After that it’s up, up and away to explore the local area for general handling before returning to the airfield for low-level flying and hovering. The student handles the controls and flies the aircraft throughout.

Back on the ground, the student will be presented with a certificate of achievement, signed by his or her instructor. This first flight can be counted towards the issue of the Private Pilot Licence, should the recipient wish to start their training. Ask us for an information pack after your lesson!
